Bluescreen on Windows 7 x64

Post by tbrd »

Hello Madshi!
On Windows 7 Pro X64 your MCH driver sometimes causes a 0x50 Bluescreen. It is signed with my EV cert (with cross signing) and signed by MS.
If I omit MS signing, those crashes do no occurr.
On Windows 10 there are no bluescreens with that binary.
It is tested with MCH installer 2.8.6.0 on a cleanly installed and fully patched Windows system.
In a short test your beta version from 2.8.6.1 did not cause any bluescreen.

Is that problem solved in your beta?
If yes, when will this be released?

The beta did solve one potential bluescreen. I can't say for sure if it's the one you experienced, but it's quite possible.

I'm planning to release a new official build soon, probably later this week. The beta build should be totally safe to use for you. It's identical to the official build + the one bugfix.

There is still no newer release. Is current beta installer 2.8.6.3 ok for production?

Yes, it's ok for production use. But I'm heavily working on getting a new official release out. Probably today or tomorrow...
