madKernel 64 bit?

Post by softtouch »

Hi,

does madKernel work with 64 bit Windows target? I get tons of errors when I try, but it works as 32 bit.

Hello,

Can you please tell us what you’re having issues with specifically?

It doesn't support 64bit atm, sadly.

Hi, are there any updates regarding support for madKernel in 64-bit applications?
I’m trying to compile my application to 64-bit, but I can’t proceed because I frequently use madKernel.Process.

Thank you!

Short answer, no. Madshi has generously allowed for many units to be used freely over the years however since there are so many it would take tons of hours to keep them all updated all the time.

I understand the maintenance issue, but it's also true that 5 years have passed, and the provided packages are not Open Source, so it's not possible to modify or maintain them independently.
Moreover, they are part of and depend on a paid package, which makes things even more complicated.
In my case, I need them for the transition to 64-bit rather than for new projects.
Is there any chance of seeing a 64-bit support, or am I forced to replace the MadKernel and MadShell libraries?

OK thanks, It's really a shame because their libraries are well-made and of excellent quality. However, without updates or support, it becomes difficult to continue using them reliably in the long run. Hopefully, the situation will change, but in the meantime, it might be worth considering alternatives that are more actively maintained

Madshi has definitely written great packages over the many years :D The main issue becomes available free time.
