Delphi 11 - Alexandria

Post by santiago »

Hello madshi,

hope you are doing fine!

Today Delphi 11 - Alexandria was released.

When can we expect to have an updated madExcept Version?

I've just uploaded a first beta build:

New official build probably coming tomorrow.

FWIW, two customers had a crash in the IDE with madExcept installed. It seems to be a bug in the IDE, although it doesn't occur without madExcept installed. But you can work around it by unchecking "enable IDE exception handling" here:

Do I need madExcept 5 for Delphi 11 or will 4.x also work? My 5 subscription is expired (how to renew it?).

Good question, one customer reported an issue with madCodeHook (which is in the same installer), so I'd like to fix that issue first. Anyway, so far there are no changes planned for madExcept, so the current "beta" build is pretty much final - except maybe I might disable "IDE exception catching" by default. So it's perfectly fine for you to use the "beta" build for final production software.

@madshi: Do you have any idea when the final build will come?
I just want to avoid rolling out the beta, and two days later the final version arrives.

I'm not entirely sure. But what I can say is that there's no change planned at all in the madExcept source code between the current "beta" build and the final build. The only change will likely be that I will probably disable "IDE exception catching" for Delphi 11. So the official build will most probably be identical to the current beta build, for all units that go into your EXE+DLL files.

Good question. I keep getting new madCodeHook support requests <sigh>.
