forum memberlist

Post by omen999 »

hi,
until march, your memberlist is full of fake/bot submitted users :-x
a built-in visual confirmation at registration should be a good idea :wink:
cheers

Very true. Was thinking the same thing during the previous few days. Do you know whether there's such a "visual confirmation" option/mod available for phpBB?

All you need to do is enable it in the board config. If you cannot find it there then I recommend that you get the latest security update for phpBB.

i dont understand the morale of such programmers and how it come,
that they program really such homosexual programs like spam
bots.. i think such people, where loosers in the early time of their life too.

there are roumours that the basic image confirmation could be
tracked down and beaten in someway but i dont believe them.

anyway, have fun people :)

@Arksole:

Its very interesting coding such bots which are bypassing the visual protection.

Some tips how I can work against that?

I've already removed the member list php script and added a little script modification to allow signature changes only after having posted at least 1 post. But that all didn't seem to help... :(

@uall

it may look like interessting but just as coding viruses and rootkits,
at first glance it seems interessting to many many people.

But there should be an ethic in this things, its ok for me
that they develop such things to beat the "challange" but i dont
feel right if they publish their source code so others could eventually
use this to make spam-bots or likes. its still, homosexual to spam
in any way, for example using bots and email.

lets think about it for a minute,
we got more and more topics in our forum, about lending money and
cialis and anal sex and such really useless stuff.. i think it only
steals us our time.
